If you prefer, you can apply directly through Sears’ hiring website (you can still track your application status through StartWire). With that said, here are a few notes to keep in mind before you apply: Note 1: You can only apply to one job at a time through Sears’ online application system. Note 2: Make sure that you apply to only one Sears store. If you submit an application to one store today and another store tomorrow, your application will be removed from the first store that you applied to – only the most recent one will be considered.Kiosks
All Sears locations contain computer kiosks that you can use to fill out your online job application. Filling out the application in the store will not give you any special advantages, but it’s still a great option if you don’t have a computer or a reliable internet connection. The Sears Application Process
The Sears job application is pretty lengthy, and will take most people at least 45 minutes to complete. The application begins with an informational section where you will need to provide your employment and education history. If you have a Facebook or LinkedIn account, you can speed this part up by linking your account – Sears will take some of your personal information and pre-populate the fields for you. After you complete the informational section, you will have to complete a 30 minute assessment that Sears uses to determine if you’re a good match for their company.Assessment
The assessment includes questions about your background and work experiences (do you prefer to work by yourself or as a team?), as well as hypothetical questions to help them understand how you would react to certain situations and the types of decisions you would make on the job (for example, what would you do if lines were getting backed up and customers were getting angry?). Of course, you should answer the questions honestly – but don’t shy away from being strong in your convictions. Strongly agreeing or strongly disagreeing with the statements provided will give you a much better chance of success than providing a neutral answer. How long does Sears keep your application on file?
Applications are held for 60 days. If you want to be considered for a position after that 60 day period, you will need to submit a new application.
