Demand for New Cockpits Fuels Hiring of 800 at Rockwell Collins

March 8th, 2011

Never mind the fuel prices, orders for airplanes are picking up. The trickle down effect is a good one: jobs! Rockwell Collins, a manufacturer of cockpits, reports plans to hire over 800 new employees this year.

Here’s a link to current position postings. We see over 500 jobs posted for Cedar Rapids, Iowa with other jobs listed nationwide. There are a couple dozen sales, project management positions, and analyst jobs in the DC suburbs; we also see a few gigs with Rockwell Collins contractors in New York and San Francisco.

Many of the positions at Rockwell Collins are for engineers. Engineers love networking through professional associations, check out the American Institute of Astronautics and Aeronautics (AIAA). (This tip also works for jobs in other fields, by the way. Here’s a directory you can use to find associations—courtesy of JobHunt.org)
