HopStop to call New York Home, Hiring

April 13th, 2011

Tens of thousands of urbanites and vacationers call up HopStop on smartphones to plan trips or to stop and get directions. Crain’s New York reports that the personal navigation site has decided to call Manhattan home – and has signed on a 2,500 square foot lease — appropriately near Penn Station and the Port Authority.

No official postings on the HopStop website, but we do see a few clues that they are hiring. First big one: the office lease—they’ll be doubling their office space and won’t be sharing with another company anymore. Second one in their call for applications via their careers page:

Hi there,

We’re growing and are looking for the best and brightest talent to join our team.

If you think you have what it takes and have relevant experience in ad sales, finance, social media, data management, application development, software engineering or product management, then drop us a line.

Send your resume to jobs @ hopstop.com

Thanks,

The HopStop Team

Quite clear that HopStop expects applicants to know how to network and apply for a job, eh?

Here are two ways you can get a jump on this:

  1. Check out StartWire and mine your Facebook and LinkedIn contacts to get an inside lead.
  2. Go to tech community events in New York city. Check out the NY Tech MeetUp via MeetUp.com, Mashable events, tweetups, etc. Make some friends, and see if you can get an inside introduction.

You may be just a hop, skip and a jump away from your next job.
