Robert Half Survey: Executives Confident about Growth in 2011

March 2nd, 2011

Here’s a good news from a survey on white collar hiring conducted by Robert Half International, one of the world’s largest staffing firms. This survey of 4,000+ U.S. executives on hiring plans and outlook for Q2 2011 shows a majority of employers are confident about the future :

Key Findings

  • A net 5 percent of executives plan to add professional-level staff in the second quarter of 2011.

  • Eighty-six percent of executives are at least somewhat confident in their organizations’ ability to grow in the second quarter; 40 percent are very confident.

  • Thirty-seven percent of respondents said it is challenging to find skilled professionals today.

  • Businesses in the Mountain states project the most hiring activity, with a net 11 percent of executives from this region planning to add professional-level staff in the second quarter.

  • Companies in the wholesale sector expect the most active hiring in the second quarter. A net 15 percent of executives anticipate staff additions.

  • The legal field is expected to see the strongest hiring, with a net 29 percent of lawyers planning to increase staff levels.

P.S. Pay close attention to the 37 percent who say it’s challenging to find skilled professionals today. Remember the best way to get on someone’s radar screen is to find out what they are looking for—and position yourself as the answer to those needs. Don’t be shy about announcing that you’re in the market—and available.
