Caterpillar exceeds investor expectations

Caterpillar earnings for January surpassed expectations by over 49%.

In January, Florida had the unique distinction of being the only U.S. state without snow. Could this be one factor that led to larger than expected demand for earth-moving equipment? Caterpillar executives are smiling as we trudge through the remnants of snow.
