The Scheduling Specialist is responsible for scheduling, registration, eligibility, authorizations and/or denials for appointments associated with outpatient and other practices. This includes office visits and any associated testing. Utilizes principles of customer service, scheduling guidelines and provider protocols. Proactively counsels patients and staff on insurance/managed care issues. Manages a positive patient experience at all times. Performing an accurate search for the patient in electronic health record, thus reducing the number of duplicate patient records. Obtaining all appropriate demographic and financial coverage for the patient and entering the data into electronic health record. Referring patients for financial counseling when appropriate. esponds to inquiries in a professional manner within the guidelines of hospital policy and procedure. Communicates using active listening, thinking/analysis, and appropriate professional response. Basic life support for healthcare providers and advanced life support certification(s) as appropriate & required for assigned department.

Arizona Department of Public Safety (IVP or Non-IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card may be required for assigned area/location.

Education Preferred:

Associates Degree. Bilingual (English/Spanish) External Experience Experience Required:

2 years of experience in patient scheduling, registration, or related work. Knowledge of medical terminology and all managed care insurance and their procedures/regulations required. Computer proficiency (must be able to pass computer proficiency assessment) including electronic health record and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) experience.

Experience Preferred:

Pre-authorization or pre-certification experience. Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record or similar electronic record systems. Requires Call No Relocation No Job Status HRLY-1.0
