TITLE OF POSITION: SENIOR LIBRARY/MEDIA TECHNICIAN

DESCRIPTION OF P0SITION: Under the direction of the site Administrator, performs a wide variety of responsible paraprofessional library tasks of a technical nature in a high school; and does related work as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Prepares book, audio-visual, periodical, newspaper, and supply orders and requisitions.

* Bills and collects monies for lost or damaged library materials and enters this information into the Aeries fee file database.

* Contacts vendors regarding purchase orders.

* Maintains accurate records of library purchases and expenditures.

* Participates in the processing and preparation of library materials for circulation.

* Inputs library fines and fees into Aeries student data base.

* Reconciles collected monies for district deposit.

* Issues overdue notices.

* Maintains accurate library records.

* Inputs library data into library data base.

* Maintains a schedule for use of library facilities by faculty and students.

* Assists in the processing and preparation of library materials for circulation.

* Receives and verifies against invoice all library deliveries.

* Assists students with library and computer research.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Reviews documents for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standard procedures and routine.

* Assists with inventory of library holdings.

* Assists with circulation of library materials and textbooks.

* Assists with training and supervising of student library aides.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS:

* Education Required: Graduation from high school or equivalent.

* Experience Required: College level training in library work OR two years of responsible experience in library-clerical work.

* Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Knowledge of library procedures and methods and current office practices. Ability to operate a library computer system, including data entry and retrieval; maintain accurate records and prepare reports; create and maintain effective working relationships with others; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; monitor student behavior in library; maintain an orderly environment and work independently. Typing: 45 wpm.

* Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or TB Testing Required: TB test clearance, Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance, and pre-employment physical and drug testing.
