Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU/Peds

We are looking for an RN to join our NICU/Peds team here at Virginia Mason Memorial. Our 15-bed NICU and 14-room Pediatric Unit are managed and staffed jointly. Staff are trained to the basic function of both roles and specialize in either NICU or Peds (as core staff members). Our NICU/Peds RNs are supported by dedicated Pharmacy and Dietary teams, a specialized Social Worker, and Assistant Nurse Managers # both day and night. The attending Neonatologist and Pediatric Hospitalist are available for consult 24 hours a day. RNs at Virginia Mason Memorial also enjoy support from a 24-hour Respiratory Team, IV Therapists, and Chaplains. New graduates/newly licensed RNs are encouraged to apply! This position is eligible for a $5,000.00 retention bonus # per the bonus program specifications. Current VMM staff members are not eligible. ROLE SUMMARY The RN completes individualized patient assessments; develops a care plan based on assessment/history findings; delivers patient-centered care that is culturally appropriate; evaluates a patient#s response to care and revises as needed. The RN is accountable to deliver care as well as to oversee and delegate to other personnel (clinical # non-clinical) in delivering/supporting the delivery of care. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES - Registered Nurse Pediatrics 1. Utilizes any special equipment used on the unit. 2. Keeps current on all point of care lab equipment. 3. Provides pre-op teaching for patients. 4. Provides breastfeeding support to patients. 5. Teaches parents care of premature babies/helps prepare for care at home. 6. Manages all types of Pediatric admits. 7. Assists with car seat fit and challenges 8. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Education: Associate#s degree in nursing required; BSN preferred. Experience:# Previous acute care nursing experience preferred. Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Washington State (DOH) Registered Nurse licensure required.# American Heart Association BLS required. Additional Certifications: Current NRP certification required (NICU). Current PALS certification preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of employment. Additional Requirements: In addition to complying with the Virginia Mason Memorial Dress Code Policy, nursing staff working within NICU/Peds are required to remove all jewelry or watches from the elbow down when on shift for infection control purposes.
