Finishing Operator I-3rd Shift (Bonded Abrasives)

Finishing Operator I sets up and operates multiple machines or uses hand tools for repetitive and high production finishing operations to include grinding, cutting to dimensions, dressing, speed testing and small sandblasting. Product handled may be in forms ranging from initial shaping to final finishing.

* Selects machine tooling to be used following clear, well-defined work orders.

* Makes necessary adjustments to set up and control a limited variety of production equipment/machinery using hand or power tools.

* Moves machine controls to position to set up work pieces and adjusts machines for pre-selected operational settings.

* Responsible to push start and stop buttons on finishing equipment, (i.e., sandblaster, speed tester, balancer) to finish high production product.

* Observes machine operations to detect any problems; make necessary adjustments to correct problems. Transfers equipment, objects, or parts to specified work areas using moving devices when applicable.

* May trim, scrape, shape, or deburr objects or parts, using chisels, scrapers, and other hand tools.

* High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent experience required.

* Technical school training, apprenticeship program, or equivalent work experience may be required.

* This position requires up to 3 months work experience to become proficient in all phases of the job to work independently.
