Title: Technician, Pharmacy Certified

Location: UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus
Second shift, every other weekend, rotating holidays
Position Summary:Under the direct supervision of a technician supervisor and pharmacist, performs medication related tasks such as packaging, preparation of all forms of medications, record keeping, and all non?judgmental aspects of drug distribution. May assist the Pharmacist in the transportation and handling of Schedule II controlled substances.
- Processes orders using pharmacy computer system. Delivers patient medications to patient’s rooms and medication room areas.
- Familiar with pharmacy technology and equipment. Capable of troubleshooting any technical problem.
- Prepares and packages all forms of medications. Prepares IV drugs using aseptic technique in compounding parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, chemotherapy and other IV drugs.
- Maintains inventory including floor stock medication, reorders, restocks, and monitors expiration dates of all medications.
Required:High school diploma or equivalent. Certified by a Board-approved certifying body (PTCP).
Required:Proficient in math. Knowledge and ability to use a computer for data entry. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions with accuracy, efficiency, and dependability. Must have successfully completed a Board-approved pharmacy technician-training program by obtaining a passing score on a Board-approved pharmacy technician assessment exam.
