Data Analyst – Category Strategy & Profit Improvement

Position Summary

CVS Health has a new opportunity for a Data Analyst. This role resides within the Category Strategy & Profitability team within CVS Front Store Merchandising. This person will help leverage CVS Health's Front Store many data assets (point of sale, customer, promotional performance, product, shelf space, market, financial) to uncover new business opportunities and answer key strategic questions. In addition, this person plays a critical role in supporting and enhancing the Category Analytics Dashboard, with 300+ users, which visualizes trends, performance and market dynamics. This person needs to be able to bridge the business perspective (key questions, actionable insights) with the technical (coding, large data set manipulation).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will translate business questions and hypotheses into complex analyses using extremely large data sets (including query design), determine the conclusions & business implications, and present the findings to business partners. Additionally, you will support and further develop the widely-used Tableau-based Category Analytics Dashboard both pro-actively based and based business owner input.

Partnering with key stakeholders across different cross-functional teams (including Store Brands, Inventory, Retail Store Design, Finance, ExtraCare, Promotions) you will help test, develop and interpret data results and help forecast the impact of both Category strategy and Category Profitability work.

To be successful in this role you should have the following key skills:

* Structured and logical thinking: the ability to dissect a problem into an organized approach and quickly form a hypothesis against which to run test analysis; ability to multi-task several concurrent requests and quickly pull together data and generate impactful insights.

* Proficient use of SQL for extraction and manipulation of data.

* Analytical rigor: analytical mindset with detail orientation; advanced Excel skills required and Tableau skills a plus.

* Strong communications: ability to concisely communicate analytical findings in both verbal and written form.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with SQL, Microsoft Excel based modelling, and SAS

* Retail/CPG experience and/or experience with large customer data sets

* Experience using Toad, SQL Assistant, FastLoad, Batch scripts, SAS Enterprise Guide, PROC SQL, VBA, OBDC connections to disparate data sources.

Required Qualifications

2+ years of working knowledge and past experience in data analysis using sophisticated platforms such as Teradata and Oracle. Experience using large data sets
