Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Special Investigations - Lead Analyst

Conduct timely due diligence using AML/CTF policies and procedures, to independently investigate AML/CTF alerts on our customers using a variety of investigative tools and systems. Prepares clear, accurate and concise investigation summaries as well as Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs). Conduct investigations as requested by internal partners. Lead or facilitate meetings to discuss investigative findings with peers and/or management. Provide training and guidance to Risk Monitoring agents to help enable their AML/CTF detection and handling. Serve as an escalation point for the Risk Monitoring team for potential AML/CTF situations. May either partner with or ultimately assume the investigation depending on the complexity and risks. Assess the current AML/CTF alerts. Research and gather data to develop effective business cases to communicate why an improvement is necessary and the expected outcome of improvements. Establish and maintain solid working relationships with peers and internal partners. Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of our business operations, products/ services, systems, and the associated risks. Maintain sufficient knowledge of BSA/AML/OFAC as developments occur. Assist in the training and development of your peers and internal partners. Skills An understanding of common business practices as well as payment transaction processing. Innate curiosity to research, understand, make sense of, and communicate complex information. Advanced computer/ internet navigation skills in order to quickly and effectively use a variety of proprietary systems, investigative programs, and case management systems. Excellent investigation and analysis skills. Precise, concise, and logical writing skills to succinctly convey information. Comfortable working with law enforcement, legal, and auditors, and testifying in court. Experience operating in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment. Ability to gain an understanding of corporate and specific policies/control environment, as well as key processes, practices and routines that impact compliance requirements, and risk mitigation through transaction and behavioral monitoring. Team player with demonstrable ability to influence peers and leaders to accomplish shared goals. Strong process facilitation, project management, and analytical skills. SQL experience helpful, but not required. Qualifications Qualification BA/BS in financial services, risk management, criminal justice or related fields preferred. CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or other relevant business designation preferred. Minimum 3 years’ experience with AML, CTF, fraud, intelligence or similar monitoring and investigation in a global environment for both consumers and small businesses. Knowledge of the regulatory environment of the financial services industry. Result-oriented and assertive (you don’t shy away from challenging situations).
