The Forsyth County Department of Social Services is seeking a Social Services Division Director to oversee a range of Adult Services Programs. Responsibilities include direct involvement in operational matters as well as short & long range planning of program services; these programs include Adult Protective Services, Guardianship, In-Home Services, and Facility oversight. Work also involves ensuring the delivery of services, allocating staff and resources appropriately, and coordinating with other division(s) in the agency as well as with organizations in the community. The Adult Services Division Director will also provide input into agency planning as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, will serve on State and regional committees, and will provide input on organizational changes, personnel, and budgeting issues.

* Thorough knowledge of the adult and aging community's demographic profile and service

need trends;

* Thorough knowledge in evidenced based practices and community partnerships for adults and

the aging community;

* Thorough knowledge of methods and principles of casework, supervision, and training;

* Thorough knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices and their application

to specific casework and community issues;

* Considerable knowledge of behavioral and socioeconomic problems and their treatment and

governmental and private organizations and community resources;

* Considerable knowledge of the laws, regulations, and policies that govern social work

programs;

* Considerable knowledge of the principles and techniques of public administration, including

personnel administration, budgeting, and office management;

* Skill in directing an engaging a staff of social workers, supervisors and related professionals;

* Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.

Minimum Education and Experience:Graduation from college with a four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and six years of social work or counseling experience, two of which was in a supervisory capacity.

A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement. A four-year degree outside of the relevant academic field plus additional years of relevant experience may also be considered.

Valid Driver's License required as this position requires frequent driving.

Department hiring preferences include a Master's degree in Social Work and previous supervisory experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

* Confers with a team of program managers and unit supervisors on issues that impact program

goals, objectives, policies, and the delivery of services;

* Evaluates the quality of services and ensures compliance with standards;

* Provides major input on organizational changes, work flow, new programs, and personnel;

* Recommends budgetary needs to the Director of Social Services for services programs based

on input from the Adult Services Division;

* Develops alternate sources of funding, interagency agreements, and contracts;

* Develops job training for the staff and makes arrangements for the staff to receive formal

training when offered;

* Ensures that policies, rules, and regulations are followed and explains and implements

changes when necessary;

* Develops processes to monitor the work of divisional staff through case reviews, progress

reports, conferences, and informal discussions to ensure compliance with operational

standards and established policies;

* Performs actions and addresses issues related to personnel including the recruitment and

selection process, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and maintaining and

recommending unit budget items; and

* Performs various related work as required.
