JOB SUMMARY:

Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.

2. Responsible for the maintenance and sterilization process of instruments and equipment.

3. Executes the transportation of patients to the Operating Room.

4. Performs (assistive service specific) tasks. Run errands.

5. Performs the hand and/or automated cleaning of instruments and equipment.

6. Responsible for maintaining service supplies.

7. Protects self, co-workers and facility by following policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s).

8. Provides age/developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to operate equipment, such as sterilization equipment, washer sterilizer, ultrasonic cleaner, flash autoclave and high van autoclave.

Ability to communicate effectively with other medical professionals.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Exposed to hazards of handling diseased organs and tissues.

Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases.

Exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals.

Subject to cuts.

Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries.
