Job Summary:

Provides for effective and efficient operation of the Neuroultrasound Cost Center of the Department of Diagnostic Neurology through the direction and control of the staff's activities, budgetary controls, and other functions that contribute to the provision of age/developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with the standards of the Department of Diagnostic Neurology and the Hospital.

Education / Experience:

* Completion of a formal ultrasound program; prefer A.A., or A. S. or correlative Allied Health Program.

* Completion of a four-year degree in a related field may be considered.

Five years clinical experience; prefer some teaching and supervisory experience.

Reports To: Administrative Director

Licensure, Certification and / or Registration:

Require registration credentials by Registered Vascular Technology credentials.

Current completion of CPR course required.

Essential Functions:

1. Provides Supervisory direction and technical expertise regarding the department's mission and goals and promotes growth and development of services

2. Monitors work flow and staff to ensure that procedures are performed according to age/developmentally appropriate and safe patient care in accordance with hospital/department guidelines while achieving high customer satisfaction

3. Assists in the preparation of and ongoing adherence to the Operational andstaffing Budget to ensure accuracy and performance in accordance with projections

4. Works with Director in assuring the prudent purchase, maintenance, distribution and installation of equipment by preparing the Capital Equipment budget and promoting proper equipment management

5. Ensures quality services by maintaining staff who are qualified and appropriately trained

6. Provides with the Director, the major channel for communication of information to the clinical/ support staff, as well as to colleagues and appropriate others inside and outside the Hospital

7. Ensuring the continuous quality of professional services by maintaining professional and technical knowledge

8. Utilizes appropriate competencies, guidelines and environment for safe patient care. Provides age/developmental appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age group served

Skills and Qualifications:

Ability to communicate on a professional level with physicians, nurses, and other ancillary professional staff when discussing neuroultrasound technology and related areas.

Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships with public, patients, physicians, and other medical center staff.

Work Environment:

Contact with patients under wide variety of circumstances

Exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries, illness)

Exposure to odorous chemicals

Exposure to flammable, explosive gases

Occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens

May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases

Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries

Required personal protective equipment: eye and face protection, gown, mask, lab coat, sterile and non-sterile gloves, shoe covers.
