Database Administrator Manager

The Database Administrator Manager is responsible for allactivities related to the administration of Cigna's corporate databases and maybe responsible for assigning tasks to others in an effort to facilitate theworkload. They are responsible for reviewing policies, procedures,methods and priorities for continuous improvement. They support highly complexapplication databases managing the day to day support to insure a stable,secure and standard environment. They provide expert troubleshooting, bothproactive and reactive performance tuning, maintenance, monitoring andcontinuous improvement. They may lead internal projects, have the abilityto develop databases, provide mentoring to other, introduce processes,technological improvements and provide liaison services with databasevendors. They provide opportunities for automation, customerself-service and process improvement. They must have the ability toproject long range requirements and solutions. Disciplines: databasedesign/analysis, data warehousing/mining.

The key objectives include: Provide 24X7 support for Cignacorporate databases, proactive monitoring/tuning, disaster recovery, Versionupgrades, patching and continuous improvement.

Specific Areas of Responsibility:

* Ensures databases are stable, secure and available

* Provide incident resolution in a timely fashion

* Proactively identify database improvements to insure stability in the database environments

* Coordinate and lead delivery of internal projects while working across several teams

* Effectively communicate issues and resolutions to management

* Scope and assess workloads

* Work with application teams in both an Agile and Waterfall development life cycle

* Provide subject matter expertise to both ISG and TSG teams

* Leads initiatives to improve support of the environment

Qualifications:

* 7 years of IT work experience

* Strong working knowledge in one of the following technologies: DB2/UDB on Linux

* Demonstrated experience in developing solid working relationships and establishing a high level of credibility across global cultures, functions and lines of business and infrastructure domains (Server, network, Information Protection, TSG, ASG)

* DPA a Plus

* UDB V9.7 a Plus
