FUNCTION:

Under supervision of a senior developer/manager, acquires the skills to design and specify information systems solutions to solve basic problems or enhancements. Supports the evaluation of client requirements and processes and participates in the development and preparation of application environments which may involve standard development platforms, software, hardware, technologies and tools. Participates in day-to-day support activities and special projects.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Complete systems analysis, design and development of basic complexity. Play a support role as an individual contributor on projects. Assist the client in addressing problems/issues in a limited scope. Suggest feasible solutions and make recommendations to management.

Participate with other development staff, operations staff and Technology staff, as appropriate, in overall system and integrated testing on small to medium scope efforts.

Prepare test data and execute detailed test plans with supervision. May participate in any required debugging. Develop an understanding of interrelationships and effects among programs and interfacing applications.

Use available resources to develop clear and complete technical and functional specifications for small-to-medium scope efforts.

Update systems documentation, subject to review. Prepare charts, tables and diagrams to assist in analyzing problems.

Prepare, with assistance, assessments and task plans to include required tasks, estimated time frames and effort for assignments. Provide consultation services to clients, technicians and Bank departments on basic functions of supported applications, which may include the review of system capabilities, operational procedures, forms, marketing materials or cost analysis. May participate in due diligence, cost/benefit, analysis, vendor analysis or business study activities. Follow and promote use of development standards and procedures.

Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Complete other related duties as assigned.

NATURE AND SCOPE:

The position works under supervision of the Technical Team Leader or Manager and receives general direction from a more senior team member. The position acquires the skills to become competent to work on many systems and technical phases of development with supervision of a manager or senior team member. In carrying out these responsibilities the position interacts with other technology personnel and clients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

Experience with systems analysis and application development Knowledge of the system development life cycle and application development alternatives

Exposure to development tools, application support software and hardware platforms General understanding of personal computers

Working knowledge of pertinent word processing, spreadsheet and database software Prior experience learning new technical skills

Verbal and written communication skills

Proven interpersonal skills

Detail-oriented, uses sound judgment

Proven analytical skills

Proven organizational and time management skills

Prior experience handling multiple tasks in support of various assignments

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

Successful completion of a Bank-approved skills development program Associate's degree with at least 1 year's involvement in systems analysis and application development Broad understanding of the business unit's role and how they fit into the organization General knowledge of the Bank's application framework

Basic project management skills
