Sterling National Bank is seeking a Director of BaaS Program Management and Optimization to join our Direct Banking Solutions Team. In this role, the incumbent will oversee and manage the execution of onboarding multiple BaaS partnerships and will coordinate across various teams, departments and stakeholders throughout the company. This person is responsible for ensuring each project is well-managed, efficient, meets requirements and results in the successful onboarding of new partnerships. The incumbent will ensure that the onboarding and other relevant workstream activities deliver value and expedient results; all while maintaining quality and adherence to the BaaS Playbook. The ideal candidate is extremely detail-oriented, organized, and has demonstrated an exceptional ability to balance the need to drive and collaborate with cross-functional teams and take full ownership of deliverables and project success. The role requires strong people and process leadership and possess an aptitude for leading and influencing cross functional teams. This candidate will have the ability to work with external partners in a project management and optimization capacity, and forge relationships with partner teams and their vendors. The incumbent must have an excellent understanding of best practices regarding process, tools, and approaches to effectively manage bank implementations and how to improve upon what's working and bridging the gaps in areas that fall short. This position requires someone who will press the status quo and drive change in a collaborative way.

  • Responsible for ensuring each project is well-managed, efficient, meets requirements and results in the successful onboarding of new BaaS partnerships. Create and manage customized project plans and functional requirements for successful partner implementations. Diligently maintain change-control documents and provide context on impacts to timeline. Produce and maintain client-level launch timelines & calendars. Provide regular internal communications with status updates of progress and any change to timelines. Take ownership of outstanding deliverables and ensure they are captured per the project plan.
  • Develops, facilitates, and executes comprehensive project plans and schedules, vendor-related agreements, requirements’ gathering sessions, daily/weekly status meetings and senior management reporting. Serves as the primary lead for project requirements and deliverables.
  • Serves as primary liaison with third party vendors during project. Ensures business requirements are met and are executed as contractually agreed upon.
  • Provide input into strategy and lead the execution of business plans from ideation through execution and be capable of working in a fast-paced environment. Accountable for project execution with the inherent responsibility to manage risks, quality and vendor deliverables.
  • Direct Business Process Management improvements to reengineer and deliver meaningful efficiencies through process enhancements and automation. Identify and drive recommendations to increase efficiencies, resolve process gaps, and enhance policies. Evaluate operating procedures to maximize value while employing acceptable risk levels.
  • Provide strategic insights to internal organizational leaders on areas of improvement to the implementation process that can reduce time to go-live, remove internal and/or client friction, accelerate the organization or partner’s return on investment. Capture functional requirements and bridge across IT/Digital, legal, risk, product, marketing, compliance and other functional teams to ensure successful onboarding/implementation.
  • Direct Business Process Management improvements to reengineer and deliver meaningful efficiencies through process enhancements and automation. Identify and drive recommendations to increase efficiencies, resolve process gaps, and enhance policies. Evaluate operating procedures to maximize value while employing acceptable risk levels.
  • Manage ongoing internal and external relationship management. Conduct relationship reviews and establish operational reporting. Facilitate ongoing issue response and resolution. Ensure day-to-day operations are running successfully.
  • Performs project reporting and documentation processes; delivers status reports and analysis for leadership on an on-going basis; tracks and resolves issues; escalates to leadership as necessary.
  • Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation ensuring project practices, processes and documentation meet all quality and auditable standards and all artifacts are maintained in an organized library.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures.

Who We Want

  • 8-10 years of experience in banking with a solid understanding of bank products and operations.
  • Relevant and progressive experience project planning, leadership, and execution; with the demonstrated ability to interact/influence senior management and drive multiple high profile and complex projects simultaneously.
  • Relevant experience dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Financial Services industry experience preferred.
  • Candidates with advanced degrees (Associates, Bachelor’s, and/or Master’s) preferred, yet a High School diploma or GED is required. Candidates with some combination of coursework and experience, or else extensive related professional experience, are eligible for consideration.
  • Self-starter with strong initiative and drive to complete tasks quickly, efficiently with the highest quality. Know our customers, their challenges, and how they deal with those challenges today (including through competitive products).
  • Possess both strategic thinking capability and “hands on” project plan implementation experience. Comfortable rolling up your sleeves to get things done and the next moment being part of deeply complex strategy discussion.
  • Great Communication Skills – Strong communications, both verbally and written. Ability to influence others and establish/maintain collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment with cross functional teams.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills ability to put processes in place to allow department to realize more efficiencies.
