This position ensures the organization, planning, direction and control of maintenance, capital projects and plant engineering for the Evonik Production Site in Fortier comprising of the ACH, MAS and MMA Plants. The Incumbent supervises a Project & MI Engineering Manager, a Maintenance Superintendent, 3-4 Plant Engineers as well as overseeing contracted (internal and external) maintenance and engineering services. The position provides the technical expertise and leadership to maintain and continuously improve the chemical process plants in order to ensure the technical means for safe operation, compliance with regulations, and high product quality, to safeguard the desired technical plant availability, and to minimize cost. Moreover, it organizes the business processes within M&E and with interfacing departments/functions on site and in the region (e.g. PT&E, Procurement) in cooperation with these departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Fully responsible for planning, managing, and organizing plant maintenance/engineering for the production plants according to BTD 13-0101. This support includes all maintenance activities, plant engineering, and capital project management as well as the responsibility for developing, aligning and managing the maintenance and capital investment budgets under the restrictions of the Zero Based Budget of the Segment PM.

* Accountable for the mechanical integrity program management and ensuring regulatory compliance of the technical installations, maintenance practices and the technical documentation in conformance to changing requirements. Accountable for the safe execution of maintenance and capital projects.

* Responsible for safeguarding the required technical availability and managing the condition of production units in cooperation with operations.

* Responsibility for proper planning and execution of plant shutdowns.

* Responsibility for coordination and development of the site contractor management system including the role of Site Contractor Management Officer as defined in BTD 15-0201 "Contractor Management". This covers safety as well as quality and cost management and related improvements.

* Provides process, maintenance and project expertise which combines technical expertise on the application of new process developments, on equipment materials and innovations and on state-of-the-art maintenance and project techniques with in-depth knowledge of the plant requirements.

* Leading the Technical Department with all assigned staff, providing them with guidance and expertise. Selection and development of staff as well as development of the M&E organization based on site and business needs.

REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelor's degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with 20 years relevant work experience or master's degree with 10-15 years relevant work experience, in both cases including leadership experience.

* Extensive progressive chemical process and plant experience is necessary for this position. This should include some basic electrical knowledge, preferably up to medium voltage (15 kV).

* Ability to work effectively in the Evonik Site Management team in a complex environment (site and majority of plants owned by 3rd party, site is unionized).

* Strong communication, leadership, motivational, and networking skills.

* Ability to present and convince senior management up to executive level.

* Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Power Point) and experience using SAP.
