The part-time Facilities Team member will serve as a caretaker of the church’s facilities to create safe, inviting, and functional spaces for a variety of activities. Primary responsibilities are custodial, janitorial, and housekeeping duties. As well as assisting with setup of rooms in various configurations. Involves moving and arranging tables, chairs, and any other furnishings necessary for the programs of the church, in the arrangements requested by the ministries.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
Cleaning Duties: Carry out cleaning duties, including bathrooms, trash disposal, floor care, dusting, cleaning walls, and other needs. Follow cleaning schedules (weekly, quarterly, annual, etc.) to ensure equipment and spaces are well-cared for and usable. Other duties as assigned.
Event/Room Setups: Prepare spaces to meet the needs of various activities. Communicate with involved staff to plan room layouts. Arrange tables and chairs into requested configurations. Provide break down after events and return items to storage.
Building Maintenance: Help maintain appearance and usability of interior and exterior spaces and identify issues that require further attention. Make safety checks by observing and checking locked doors. Monitor temperatures and adjust heating/cooling equipment as needed. Provide snow removal.
The ideal candidate will have:
· Basic knowledge of custodial duties and janitorial responsibilities
· Knowledge of cleaning equipment including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping
· Knowledge of cleaning techniques and processes
· Knowledge of the qualities and uses of various cleaning, sanitizing chemicals
· Experience in cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms
· Ability to follow directions and work within guidelines
· Demonstrated ability of maintaining janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and operable condition
· Ability to work independently and in stressful environments while maintaining composure
· Able to read and communicate in English
· Ability to perform routine electrical, plumbing, and building maintenance preferred
· Ability to use basic office technology tools
Physical requirements of the position:
Must be able to perform under periodically disagreeable working conditions, including working outside, at times in inclement weather, and exposure to water, dust, dirt, grease, paint fumes, chemicals, and equipment noise and vibration. Must be able to be on your feet for prolonged periods of time.
Must be able to do frequent lifting/carrying of objects up to 25 pounds, and less frequency up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
