Brand Event Specialist

The Brand Event Specialist oversees the strategy and implementation of external events in the community and across Raley's, Bel Air Markets and Nob Hill Foods stores. External events are an important opportunity for Raley's to showcase the brand directly in our communities. Under general supervision, coordinates and administers marketing department event planning on behalf of the brand in the community and across Raley's, Bel Air and Nob Hill Foods stores. This job classification requires intermediate knowledge of marketing and event planning methodologies. Employees in this classification must possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively communicate with management as well as outside vendors and representatives from community agencies. May assign and supervise third-party staff to support on-site events.


Work is performed in a normal business office environment. Frequent travel to store locations, communities within our market area for events. Extended work hours may include nights or weekends for community events.

ResponsibilitiesDevelops event partnerships in alignment with marketing strategy and that fit the Raley's brand position and serve to increase brand awareness.Reviews event proposals/requests from external organizations and responds thoughtfully to external proposals.Determines level of participation for all events encompassing appropriate financial commitment, branding opportunities, event logistics demands, and key marketing elements suited to the event and venue.Builds partnership with community organizations and oversees the execution of partnership elements, including fulfillment, scheduling, and contracts.Serves as the primary event planning and coordination leader for Raley's external event participation.Works closely with event coordinator, outside agencies, vendors and community organizations to finalize all details of impending event.Provides centralized coordination involving advertising materials, pamphlets, tickets, signage, props and securing venue location.Initiates requests with the Marketing team for creative work for promotional events to include print, radio, web and social. Generates briefs detailing target audience, features and benefits of event, deadline for completion and estimated budget.Supports store level events, including but not limited to grand opening celebrations, remodel celebrations, local community events, etc.Make recommendations for event partnerships that are mutually beneficial.Supports stores in evaluating and determining what events fit Raley's brand position.Supports coordination efforts and cross- promotional including, advertising materials, pamphlets, tickets, signage, props and securing venue location. Works closely with event coordinator, outside agencies, vendors and community organizations to finalize all details of impending event.Handles all budgetary requirements for store events.Coordinates day to day execution of store events in partnership with store leadership.Acts as a corporate representative in the community for civic involvement and community events.Represents Raley's at community events.Speaks on behalf of the company to convey Raley's brand position and stance on certain issues.Attends key marketing events within the Northern California region which require a company representative.Develops and executes schedule to staff events using third-party vendors or store employees as appropriatePartners with Merchants, vendors and community groups to develop vendor-sponsored in-store promotions.Determines the logistics and cost of the event, creates master timeline with completion milestones using a defined project management format.Tracks promotional effectiveness through analysis and compiles a written summary of consumer attendance, coupon redemption, store sales, customer count and actual product movement and/or other agreed upon metrics.Performs miscellaneous administrative tasks related to in-store and promotional events including maintaining and updating the events on company website.Stays up-to-date on emerging, new events and venues along with grocery industry trends.Responsible for developing and monitoring the department budget for all community events.Approves expenditures and submits payment requests in timely manner and according to budget.Qualifications



High School Diploma or G.E.D. required plus a minimum of three (3) years of experience in promotional administration or event planning or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelors degree preferred.


Event Management Certificate from an accredited college or university preferred.


Demonstrated knowledge of marketing methodologies and event planning practices. Experience in competitive analysis, advertising, or media management a plus.

* Experience managing a corporate budget; ability evaluate budget and recommend adjustments where necessary.

* Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to deliver clear and concise marketing strategies and briefs to all organizational levels.

* Ability to react quickly and calmly in high-pressure situations.

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and able to consistently meet deadlines.

* Must demonstrate advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

* Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Employees may occasionally experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:

Standing for long periods of time at store or community events.

Lifting up to 40 pounds, occasionally.

Sitting; frequent sedentary work.

Viewing computer monitor.

Keyboarding; use of fingers to make small movements such as typing and mouse usage.
