Performance Improvement Coordinator, Quality Management

Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center is a 537- bed (including 100 nursing home beds) teaching hospital and a member of Catholic Health Services of Long Island. * Supervise a team of 4 Quality Management Directors.

* Oversee the collection, accuracy and reporting of all hospital quality data to internal and external customers, the federal government and regulatory agencies.

* Manage databases and registries as they relate to performance improvement (PI) activities and the preparation of departmental, hospital and system-wide benchmark dashboards and reports.

* Identify relationships and trends in data, as well as any factors that could affect the results of research.

* Report results of statistical analyses, including information in the form of graphs, charts, and tables.

* Analyze and interpret statistical data to identify significant differences in relationships among sources of information.

* Adapt statistical methods to solve specific problems.

* Develop software applications or programming to use for statistical modeling and graphic analysis.

* Generate data queries, based on validation checks or errors and omissions identified during data entry, to resolve identified problems.

* Coordinate the activities of the data analysts in the Quality Management department.

* Perform data abstracting and data harvesting.

* Compile profile reports from diverse data sources.

* Maintain, improve and continue the Microsoft Excel based analytic reports.

* Review data to ensure accuracy and analyzing and reporting of trends.

* Maintain hospital database systems.

* Oversee internal and external reported quality metrics.

* Prepare data required during the hospital's Joint Commission survey.

* Maintain disease-specific proprietary registries, such as PCI.

* Report quality data to public (for CMS and other agencies).

* Report Long Island Health Network (LIHN) resource utilization.

* Record data for hospital performance improvement actives required for New York State databases (NYSPFP, NYS databases such as NY State Department of Health Sepsis).

* Collect, report and validate hospital data required for The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade.

* Analyze score and data trends related to this survey.

Work with IT to create STAR SQL Report/ EPIC Report based on the data request.

Job Requirements:

Master's or equivalent degree in Statistics, Information Systems, or related quantitative field.

1 year of experience interpreting, analyzing and reporting data using statistical programs (SPSS, Strata or SAS); Microsoft Access and Visio; and SQL, relational database, database design, business intelligence.

1 year of experience with Microsoft Excel including the use of formulas, pivot tables, macros, and VBA functions.

Drug testing and background/reference checks required.
