Vice President, Global Government Relations

Lead, develop and inspire a high commitment, high performing Corporate Affairs organization Develop, maintain and engage effective, trusted working relationships with elected, appointed and career government officials, that will enable the effective advocacy of Intuit's public policy vision in service to our consumer and small business customers, and our shareholders as public company Research and analyze existing, emerging and potential public policy issues on a global basis, collaborating within Corporate Affairs and Intuit Business Units and Functional Groups, to determine business impact and to develop strategic and tactical plans to manage the issue both externally and internally, anticipating and projecting trends, developments, threats and opportunities Develop multi-faceted and multi-level strategies for integrated Campaign Management of complex issues, developing new and innovative concepts, solutions and strategic partnerships within the global external policy and economic environment as needed, depending on the issue and its priority, for the given situation or objective being addressed Effective Public Policy Issue Management will involve fully developing and delivering on public policy and public affairs strategies by working with internal and external business partners to advance strategic objectives that shape the external and internal environment. External partnerships include coalitions, NGO's, think tanks, academia, policy institutes, interest groups, and trade associations, to develop and advocate shared public interest objectives. Internal partnerships include the company’s business and functional groups Analyze requirements for special projects and external initiatives, public-private partnerships, and/or new strategy implementation efforts, and assemble and direct the appropriate internal/external resources to support such initiatives Participate in public policy and political affairs conferences and forums within the global governmental community. Serve as a thought leader and respected representative in the external community for the Intuit company, promoting the company’s capabilities, expertise, innovation, customer focus, strategic vision, public policy point of view and corporate values Monitor legislation, regulation, emerging issues and industry trends in the global jurisdictions where Intuit has or anticipates to have business engagement, keeping relevant stakeholders throughout Intuit informed of material developments or changes in the environment for Intuit, its customer segments, and the industry, together with analyses of the significance, relevance, meaning and impact of public policy developments and emerging trends Work in close collaboration with other Intuit leaders in related disciplines, including but not limited to Corporate Communications, Corporate Strategy and Planning, Chief Tax Officer, Intuit Legal, and other company resources and expertise, including through partnership to develop and execute cross-boundary projects and initiatives to drive strategic company outcomes Identify and evaluate potential external specialists and consultants that will work with Intuit Corporate Affairs to deliver defined political and policy objectives in the global external environment. Manage, direct and review the performance and results of each member of the external team. Define, propose, negotiate, secure and manage the budgetary resources necessary to sustain and direct the team of external consultants and strategic advisors. Review consultant contracts and periodic billing for adequacy, completeness and accuracy. Manage consultant compliance with Intuit Political Accountability Policy, standards of Conduct policies, and compliance with both government ethics rules and Intuit and Corporate Affairs policies for the same in all global jurisdictions in which Corporate Affairs or its consultants operate on behalf of the company In managing adherence to the Intuit Political Accountability Policy in the Global Corporate Affairs team, particularly attention should focus as it pertains to Execution of Intuit government relations and political affairs in a non-partisan, non-ideological and balanced manner that treats major political parties equally, with respect and without preference. Conduct and direct government relations and political affairs in such a manner as reflects to the external world the Intuit internal value system and operating principles that guide us as a company. Drive annual compliance training for senior executives Oversee and ensure Intuit compliance with law and regulation relevant to the work of government advocacy and lobbying for Intuit, including all pertinent ethics requirements, lobbying registrations, and associated reporting and disclosures, as may be required in relevant governing jurisdictions. Manage this process, along with appropriate external expert resources for formal reporting, to ensure compliance by covered Intuit employees. Oversee, review, concur in such required registrations and periodic reporting as well by Intuit's external lobbying consultant contractors Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required, masters or law degree preferred, in relevant field. Business experience with global enterprise a plus Knowledge and experience in US and Global governmental and public policy affairs, with specific experience in the global business and/or governmental environment Track record of effective and respected leadership of people and teams in a matrixed environment Strong understanding of and experience with effective public policy and political advocacy, public affairs programs, and associated campaign management concepts and methods Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, effectively analyzing and assessing opportunities and threats, prioritization of focus, analyzing and anticipating developments as well as emerging trends, threats and opportunities Comfort with ambiguity including the ability to process and synthesize significant amounts of disparate information and intelligence, and to assess and share such information and analysis in ways that are clear, timely and actionable Demonstrated capabilities in dealing with governments and businesses in a culturally adaptable manner Proven people leadership and management skills, with strengths in development of talent and organizations Ability to build strong partnerships across all areas of the organization and with colleagues at all levels, from senior leadership to front line employees Proven leadership skills and executive presence with strong communication and presentation skills
