Our camps serve over 5,000 girls each summer with programs that challenge campers to live outdoors, try new things, and develop relationships.

If you are looking for a summer job that can make a difference, but cannot commit for a full camp season, the Program Specialist is the perfect position for you! Camp River Trails in Sheridan, Illinois offers unique weekend opportunities—staff begin work on Friday afternoon, and are finished Sunday afternoon. But, if you have the interest and availability, opportunities for facilitating swimming and archery for visiting troops may be available on weekdays throughout the summer. Salary includes room and board during weekend programs and a competitive daily rate.

We are seeking PROGRAM SPECIALISTS to facilitate camp programs for guests on weekends, including check-in and check-out, assisting with meal service, and facilitating archery, canoeing, and swim programs. Specialists will live on site during the program weekend and are eligible to assist with weekday facilitation opportunities. Lifeguard, Canoe Safety, and Archery certification strongly preferred. Training is available for staff prior to the start date. Position begins early June with staff training, and finish in early August. There are opportunities for occasional fall work.

Qualifications and General Expectations (for all positions)

* Candidates must be at least 18 years of age or older. Leadership team positions require 21 years of age or older, positions which include potential responsibility for transporting campers require 23 years of age or older with valid driver's license.

* High School Graduation is required

* All staff must possess First Aid and CPR certification by the employment start date. Training is provided for camp staff on select dates by GSGCNWI for no fee.

* All staff must provide proof of completion of Mandated Reporter training prior to the employment start date.

* All staff must submit proof of health physical clearing the candidate for work in a camp setting.

* Staff should have prior experience with child care, education, and/or outdoor recreation.

Candidates should be willing to live and work in an indoor and outdoor camp setting, which includes working irregular hours with limited or simple equipment, rustic facilities, wildlife and insects; limited technology while at camp, and daily exposure to sun, rain, and other weather conditions.

Salary is a daily rate dependent on the candidate's position, age, and experience.
