GENERAL SUMMARY: Supervisor of Specimen Processing section under the direction of the Director of Laboratory Services.

Responsible for monitoring the day-to-day operation and staff of the Specimen Processing area of the laboratory. Oversight of specimen workflow to include receipt, packaging and distribution of samples to appropriate section. Oversight of reference laboratory specimen processing. Maintains acceptable level of specimen processing supplies. Directs and assists staff in resolving specimen issues. Monitors pending and cancellation logs. Assures specimens are processed in a manner consistent with regulatory requirements. Trains processors and ensures their competency.

Minimum Education and Experience:

* AA Degree - Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) or equivalent (including course work in biology, chemistry and mathematics) plus two (2) years' experience in specimen processing of specimens for various laboratory sections.

* High school diploma and a minimum 3 (3) years' experience in a specimen processing area, including knowledge of sending out specimens to reference laboratories.
