The Institute has campuses in Aspen, Colorado, and on the Wye River on Marylands Eastern Shore. It also maintains offices in New York City and has an international network of partners.

The Aspen Institute Latinos and Society Program offers a non-partisan platform for public programming, policy convenings and leadership development with a distinct focus on bridging the emerging Hispanic growth and influence with the broader American society. The program convenes thematic seminars and collaborates with other AI programs to increase Latino representation in all areas of work. It also brings Latinos and others together to address critical challenges facing Latinos and the nation in the areas of education, economic advancement and civic participation.

Basic Function:

The Sr. Program Associate, working closely with the Executive Director and the Program Manager, will successfully carry out assigned projects within the Aspen Institute Latinos and Society Program (AILAS). He/She will be responsible for assisting in the development of program content; managing publication of various products from blogs to published reports including research, writing and editing, for a variety of audiences; and lead on grant proposals, program evaluation, managing grant and gift reporting and ensuring grant requirements are met. Successful candidates must be adept at taking initiative, meeting deadlines, and multi-tasking in the dynamic and creative environment of an evolving program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Lead on writing program communications and deliverables; including writing, editing and reviewing reports, white papers, blogs and other communication materials as assigned.

* Assist with the production process of writing projects as relevant.

* Draft grant and funder proposals and donor reports.

* Track policy conversations related to Latino community with a focus on three priority issue areas -- economic advancement, civic engagement, education.

* Work with PM and ED to design and implement program activities, including planning initiatives, and developing necessary evaluation components.

* Develop, implement, and manage monitoring and evaluation strategy.

* Assist PM and ED in developing partnerships with organizations that supplement AILAS expertise in specific areas.

* Participate in annual program review and planning processes.

* Other duties as assigned.

Principle Interactions: Interacts routinely VP/ED, Chair, with other Aspen staff, partners and constituents.

Knowledge, Education and Experience:

* BA/MA in a relevant social science discipline

* 3-5 years of experience in a research, academic or nonprofit organization. Masters degree in relevant field can account for 2 years of experience.

* Experience writing grant proposals

* Strong writing and editing skills

* Excellent Microsoft office and excel skills

* Academic or professional work or writing in social science related field
