JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Public Relations Manager, the Public Relations Coordinator is a key member of the public relations team, taking on important assignments while building relationships with lawyers, administrative personnel, and members of the media. The person in this role will plan, organize and support the award and survey submission process for the entire firm, and will assist with media relations; article placements; media list creation; website and social media postings; and other related functions. The ideal candidate will have strong multi-tasking and organizational skills, is able to work well under tight deadlines, has superior written and oral communication skills, and interacts professionally with management/lawyers and personnel at all levels of the firm.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Maintains media award/survey calendar. Coordinates survey responses and prepares media award submissions for legal industry and business publications. Provides support to the legal directory team, as necessary.

* Assists in drafting and managing the regular updating of web marketing content, including postings to the "News" page. Helps to maintain social media presence.

* Knowledgeable about the firm's best practices, systems and processes, market intelligence and industry trends in order to make recommendations for the advancement of the firm's PR programs; participating in the ongoing development and maintenance of systems and processes to maintain an efficient PR team.

* Supports the team by coordinating meetings with local media and other external communication outlets, as needed.

* Helps with media relations activities, including the writing, proofreading and distribution of press releases; maintaining press lists; drafting briefing materials and media coverage reports; building relationships with trade and local reporters; conceptualizing media pitches, and researching and overseeing editorial calendars and follow-up.

* Coordinates daily public relations functions, maintaining PR team infrastructure including monitoring daily news for lawyer/firm mentions, weekly internal email newsletter, etc.

* Assists with placement of attorney-written articles.

* Provides general administrative support for the PR team when needed, as well as special projects and other duties as assigned.

* Contributes to the firm's overall initiative to consistently improve its image internally and externally. Displays professionalism, quality service and is an organized, hard-working, self-starter who possesses the ability to work in a fast-paced and highly professional environment.

* Helps to supervise intern.

Required Skills

* BA/BS degree required.

* Strong oral and written communication skills.

* Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work effectively supervision in an atmosphere of multiple projects, shifting priorities and deadline pressures.

* Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, to take initiative, prioritize and meet deadlines.

* Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.

Required Experience

* 2-3 years of public relations experience preferred. Public relations agency background or law firm, professional services experience a plus.

* Experience with photography a plus.
