Role: Network Engineer

Position Description:

ValidaTek seeks a Network Engineer to support the Department of State in designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting their growing network infrastructure. You will be part of a team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet business objectives.


* Support engineering, operations, maintenance and monitoring of the LAN at all the Passport locations nationwide

* Support monitoring and performance profiling of all LAN and WAN infrastructure that impacts business systems and services hosted in the data centers and deployed to 270+ sites worldwide

* Support incident and problem management for all network resources

* Engineering, operations, maintenance and monitoring of all data center network load balancing hardware

* Liaise with application, database, and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues

* Liaise with the ISSO and Diplomatic Security on all matters pertaining to network security

* Maintain strong relationships with key internal and external contractor and customer contacts to facilitate communication and collaboration

* Analyze network designs/implementations to ensure security and scalability to meet current and future needs

* Create/update network diagrams in Visio

* Perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

* Requires direct recent/current network engineering and administration experience supporting the Department of State

* Experience directly supporting the Bureau of Consular Affairs is strongly preferred

Education and Certifications

* BS/BA in related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience

* Relevant technical certifications preferred
