Learning Designer

Learning designer is responsible for using instructional design methodology, innovative design principles and technological skills to produce engaging and effective courses and maintain existing courses. This individual designs end-to-end learning solutions and deliverables. Leverages expertise in adult learning, corporate learning delivery systems and innovative instructional design methodology and technology to create engaging learning solutions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

* Designs and develops high-impact asynchronous undergraduate and graduate level courses, and other multimedia development, including graphics development.

* Maintains existing courses by updating specific course elements and aligning with instructional materials.

* Implements online course materials through the Learning Management Systems used by Strayer University.

* Incorporates multimedia concepts in course design.

* Identifies and communicates best practices for applying teaching and learning theories to curriculum design.

* Remains current on and evaluate emerging technologies that have potential value for online teaching and learning.

* Works to deadlines, schedules, and milestones when implementing design decisions.

* Collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs), support team, faculty and other learning designer/learning technologist professionals to create learning modules, lectures, and related materials.

* Edits existing video and integrates with scripts, text, sound, flash and other interactive learning elements.

* Highlights areas for improvements, performs quality control on existing materials and proposes instructional interventions to improve student experience and learning.

* Other responsibilities as assigned

Education:

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required, Master's preferred

Work Experience:

* At least three years experience designing online learning, completing high-quality instructional design and development projects on time and on budget);

* Project management experience (e.g., managing time, establishing priorities, meeting milestones and deliverables);

* Uses current learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard; Canvas; Moodle);

* Applies learning theories to the practice of online and on-ground course design development

Job Skills:

* Strong technical writing and/or editing skills;

* Excellent oral and written communication skills;

* Maintains in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of the workplace learning and performance field;

* Proven skill with Instructional Design Methodology (e.g. ADDIE, SAM);

* Demonstrates an aptitude for and agility with new technology in a fast-paced ever-changing environment;

* Eager to learn, grow and contribute to a dynamic team;

* Must be able to work independently with little supervision, as well as in a team;

* Ability to work with SMEs to understand, support, and evolve their content into curriculum and educational material.
