The Sr. Technical Writer applies knowledge and understanding of Flight Procedures, researches technical and documentation requirements to produce guidance materials for the purpose of communicating highly complex and technical aviation materials to a wide ranging audience and in numerous forms of written and electronic media. Collaborates with diverse skill sets to translate complex operational NAS concepts in easily understandable documents. Analyzes existing and potential content to identify reuse and evaluate observations to produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.


* Provide senior technical writing expertise to support FAA Air Carrier Operations Branch (AFS-220) in the area of regulations, policy, and guidance for certification, inspection, and surveillance of air carrier, commuter, and on demand operations. Provide support identifying and developing managing, developing, and evaluating operational policies and guidance for air carrier operations aspects of 14 CFR parts 63, 65 and part 121.

* The Sr. Technical Writer will coordinate with technical specialists and support evaluation to determine guidance document processes and documentation are appropriate to meet the requirement.

* The senior technical writer will oversee document management, document control, scheduling, naming convention, configuration control and other elements of control necessary to expediently progress the work.


TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and ten (10) years or more of related experience; Masters and eight (8) years or more experience ; PhD or JD and two (2) years or more experience.


* Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of experience performing the following technical writing functions.

* At least 2 years of the individual's total experience must have consisted of performing technical writing functions with respect to aviation or related disciplines.
