Job Description Summary:

The Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) is responsible for leading the university's alumni and fundraising efforts.

DAR seeks to promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the university community, including alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, corporations and foundations, patients and other friends. Our goal is to advance GW's mission of excellence in education, research, scholarship, and patient care.

DAR is seeking an Associate Director, Alumni Engagement and Outreach who works in a team environment to provide strategic opportunities for GW alumni to connect on meaningful levels based on self-identity, past student organization involvement, and/or personal interests.

The goals of this position include:

* Executing strategies that help renew and/or strengthen alumni's relationships with GW, and/or that connect them with peers who have similar interests, for the purpose of increasing alumni engagement in event attendance, volunteering, and financial support of the university.

* Promoting a culture of philanthropy amongst diverse alumni volunteers by communicating the importance of annual philanthropic support to the university and raising awareness on GW's priorities and initiatives.

* Assisting in the identification, training, and retention of volunteer leaders thereby helping to create a pipeline of alumni who serve as advocates and ambassadors for the university.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization or a combination of education, training and experience is desired.

Two years of experience in development, alumni relations, volunteer management, event planning or a related field such as public relations or customer service desired.

Established flexibility and initiative; the ability to work independently, as well as thrive in a team environment to achieve institutional goals.

Demonstrated strong writing, planning, and organizational skills.

Ability to organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.

Ability to work evening and occasional weekend events.
