Salary Grade: GN10 / Salary Range: $39,611 - $63,378 Annually

This position is located at Warren Correctional Institution in Warren County, Manson NC. Employees in this class are involved in the planning, supervision, and coordination of activities at a medium-custody institution and supervise Correctional Lieutenant II's. Employees follow security policies and procedures, perform on-the-job training, assign and supervise custody staff, and coordinate administrative affairs within the facility. Employees may serve as the Officer-in-Charge. Position typically reports to the Correctional Assistant Superintendent of Custody & Operations. Employees may assist with personnel actions, administrative affairs, officers' work schedule and coordinate activities involving discipline, security, and the welfare of the inmate population. Employee's responsibilities are primarily custodial in nature serving as shift supervisor. This position also coordinates actions such as employee leave requests, interviewing applicants for employment, monthly reports, inmate concerns or issues, and other activities relative to a correctional facility or institution. Conducts inspections of housing units and other buildings, grounds, and posts to ascertain that officers are alert, that discipline is being maintained, and that assignments are carried out properly. Reviews investigations regarding security issues, incidents, disputes, and complaints. Assists in assessing, evaluating, and implementing employee discipline. May serve on the inmate classification committee. Prepares a variety of records and reports. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Education Development (GED) diploma and two years six months of experience as a Correctional Lieutenant, or two years of experience as a Correctional Lieutenant II; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
