Visalia Unified School DistrictCertificated Employee Job Description Management PositionLearning Director – High School Grades 9-12Assist the principal in counseling and scheduling of students, curriculum development, supervision of instruction, school site management, and student support services. May assist the site principal with teacher and staff evaluations and performance as well as assisting with achieving and maintaining standards of excellence within all curricular areas so that each student may derive the greatest academic and personal benefit from the learning experience.Management Team Relationships:1. Directly responsible to the principal.2. Directly responsible to assist in the coordination and supervision of curriculum and instruction and staff development for assigned interdisciplinary teams of teachers.Administrative Duties and Responsibilities:1. Works with other administrators and the principal to provide an exemplary high school program.2. Assists in the development of the master schedule appropriate to meeting the needs of all students.3. Advises students, parents, and guardians for the purpose of providing information on students' schedule, progress, and/or recommendations regarding their successful transition to college or the work force. Counsels students with special and/or immediate academic or personal needs.4. Assists in the scheduling of classes for an assigned group of students.5. Assists with the implementation of curriculum that is aligned to Visalia Benchmark and State Standards.6. May assist the principal and associate principal with the supervision and evaluation of site personnel.7. Assists in the registration and placement of new students.8. Assists in the conducting of staff in-service.9. Supervises or assigns supervision for students in all types of non-classroom activities.10. Assists the principal in planning for the safe and efficient operation of the school site.11. Assists in the preparation of school communications to parents, community, and district office.12. Assists with purchasing and budget control procedures.13. Is responsible for overseeing programs for special needs students and for supervision of students on campus.14. Assists with extended day and extended year programs.15. Assists with all aspects of student discipline.16. Provides demonstration lessons in instructional strategies and classroom management.17. Assists with articulation activities and orientation of students from feeder middle and elementary schools.18. Assists in textbook inventories, instructional, and supplemental materials and supplies.19. Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.Essential Job Requirements-Qualifications:-California Administrative Services Credential-Pupil Personnel Services Credential desired-California Teaching Credential-Minimum 3 years successful teaching experience as documented by the last two summative evaluations.-Knowledge and experience in working with a diverse student population and prior job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility at the school level.Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:Skills, knowledge, and ability to appropriately manage personnel and programs, communicate effectively, and problem solve. Knowledge of curriculum, education code, district policies. Knowledge of implementation of Visalia Benchmark Learning Standards and California State Standards. Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time, provide direction to others and make independent judgments, keep and maintain accurate records, meet deadlines, communicate with individuals of various cultural and educational backgrounds, communicate in oral and written form. Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/visual accommodation.
