Licensed Mental Health Professional ( LCSW, LICSW, LMFT, LMHC, LSW, LPC, LPCC ) - PRN

Position Requirements:

Must hold and maintain a current, unrestricted license as a mental health professional in the state of employment, as well as a valid CPR card, with a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a clinical setting, with correctional healthcare experience preferred. Must have knowledge and experience in the identification and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders, discharge planning, and mental health program development.

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Health Services Administrator (HSA), Director of Nursing (DON), and Mental Health Director and/or Psychiatrist, the Mental Health Coordinator is responsible for serving as a liaison in relation to all mental health services provided within the facility.

Performance Expectations:

* Use knowledge and expertise to ensure that processes and systems are followed appropriately according to policies and procedures, company performance, and accreditation standards.

* Work cohesively with the HSA, DON and Mental Health Director and/or Psychiatrist in the coordination of the mental health care delivery system, as well as other functions within the facility.

* Use all functions and applications of TechCareTM relevant to the position with no supervision, and assist with staff training as requested.

* Communicate effectively with clients, peers, and employees at all levels within the organization. Maintain clear lines of communication throughout issue-resolution processes.

* Demonstrate personal performance based on professional practice standards, relevant statutes, rules and regulations and organizational criteria.

* Respond to and initiate care for mental health emergencies within the facility.

* Participate in a collaborative approach of patient management using the knowledge and the clinical resources of the mental health team ensure effective, evidenced-based mental health treatment.

* Oversee scheduling of all mental health staff, to include schedule development and maintenance of required shift coverage, paid time off (PTO) coordination, call-offs due to illness or personal emergency.

* Review and ensure proper progress note documentation and performance of mental health screens and evaluations.

* Coordinate mental health staff programming, to include staff development and training, scheduling, curriculum development, and implementation of mental health services.

* Coordinate and serve as liaison for specialty courts and transfers.

* Assist in the oversight of the mental health intake process, sick call, and crisis intervention.

* Perform mental health sick call, screenings, and evaluations as needed to ensure clinical timeliness.

* Complete at least 12 hours of CEU pertinent to correctional health care annually.

* Assist with evaluating the quality and effectiveness of the mental health services, oversight of the mental health CQI program, and assist in developing systems to ensure and monitor patient care and safety.

* Coordinate and participate in educational and training activities related to mental health care for patients, security personnel, and healthcare staff.

* Demonstrate professionalism by using objectivity, maintaining self-control when under pressure, separating professional from personal issues, displaying emotional maturity, maintaining a high degree of integrity, and promoting a positive work environment by setting an example.

* Participate in all monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings as assigned and required in accordance with contract compliance.

* Notify critical information to the next level of management that may have a negative impact on client and/or vendor relations or patient care.
