Team Leader - Production

Johnson Electric (JE) is excited to announce that we are now recruiting for a Group Leader for our Vandalia, OH location. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Group Leader is responsible for the manufacturing activities within a defined department. This position is responsible for providing leadership and accountability for proper safety, 6S, quality, on-time delivery, problem resolution and team building for the department, supporting the Production Manager with the day-to-day management.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet departmental goals for safety, quality, production/delivery and cost. Escalate issues to proper support for fast resolution
  • Perform visual inspection of the product at startup and throughout the shift to ensure part meet customer’s criteria satisfaction
  • Fills in for operators during breaks and during absences in designated cell/line
  • Audit process to ensure that standard work is being followed and escalate issues to proper support staff when needed
  • Performed layered process audits for designated areas on a daily basis
  • Work to ensure people and resources are applied in an efficient and effective manner to meet delivery requirements while achieving quality and safety standards
  • Ensure that team members follow defined manufacturing procedures and comply with quality requirements
  • Ensure equipment is within calibration date and all systems are functioning correctly
  • Ensure all records are completed appropriately
  • Ensure that non-conforming material is clearly identified and segregated
  • Ensure that the escalation procedure for quality concerns is followed
  • Ensure achievement of production through output against stated capacity targets
  • Communicate the day to day targets and responsibilities to team members
  • Maintain visible lead for adherence to procedures and instructions
  • Monitor change over and/or line set up efficiency
  • Prepare line set-ups for following shifts, including first article piece
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities within the organization.
  • Actively promote/direct daily housekeeping and workplace organization (6S) to ensure the entire process area is in it should be condition
  • Other duties as assigned
