The City of Santa Clarita has a part-time, temporary, and seasonal (PTS) position available in Urban Forestry area of the Neighborhood Services Department. Under supervision, the PTS General Maintenance Worker will operate the Urban Forestry Water Truck and assist in Urban Forestry staff in tree maintenance responsibilities as-needed.

Salary: $16.65/hour

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Irrigate trees within the public right-of-way/parkway by driving the City's Water Truck along a pre-planned route.

* Assist Urban Forestry staff with projects, either working together or independently, which may include:

* Pruning, removing and stump grinding of City-maintained trees.

* Remove weeds from tree wells along parkways within the City's right of way.

* Schedule varies; 16 - 32 hours per week

Education and Experience:•High School Diploma or GED Certificate.

* Valid California Driver's Class "A" or "B" License with 'Tank Endorsement' and safe driving record.

Knowledge and Abilities:•Knowledge of tree care, landscape/grounds maintenance, and small power equipment usage.

* Experience working in the landscape or tree maintenance field.

Part-time, temporary, and seasonal (PTS) workers are at-will. Generally PTS employees are limited to no more than 1,000 hours.

In addition, PTS employees may be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull-Notice Program. This program authorizes the City to receive a driver record report upon enrollment and during employment.
