CAMPUS SUPERVISOR

DEFINITION

The Campus Supervisor, under the supervision of the site administrator, assists in the supervision of students in the cafeteria and on the school grounds during lunch period(s), before, and after school.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Organizes students into orderly lines for purchasing food and sees that they go to assigned tables
  • Assists younger students with use of utensils when needed
  • Directs students for disposing of food wastes, trays, and utensils
  • Organizes for orderly dismissal from the cafeteria
  • Circulates among the tables during the meal period so as to be available to help children who need help and to resolve any minor problems that arise
  • Supervises students at playtime and maintains a harmonious atmosphere on the playground
  • Supervises students during transition, before, and after school to maintain order and safety of students
  • Supervises bus drop-off
  • Directs group games and activities
  • Directs movement of individuals and groups to and from a playground
  • Informs office of any serious infraction of disciplinary rules by students
  • Works cooperatively with others
  • Performs related duties as may be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE

Knowledge of:

  • Basic First Aid and CPR

Ability to:

  • Demonstrate aptitude for the work to be performed
  • Cope with large numbers of children
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Remain calm in emergency situations
  • Interact with students, staff, parents and the general public in a warm, friendly and cooperative manner

Training and Experience:

Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade. One year paid or volunteer experience working with children in an educational or child care setting is highly desirable

Licenses:

Possess and maintain valid First Aid and CPR certificates issued by an authorized agency

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Visual ability to read handwritten or typed documents and instructions
  • Able to conduct verbal conversation
  • Able to hear normal range verbal conversation (approximately 60 decibels)
  • Able to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend and walk
  • Able to sit for sustained periods of time
  • Able to kneel or squat for extended periods of time
  • Able to climb slopes, stairs, steps, ramps and ladders
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Able to carry up to 25 pounds for extended distances
  • Able to sustain strenuous manual labor for 3.75 hrs.
  • Able to exhibit full range of motion for:
  • shoulder external rotation and internal rotation
  • shoulder abduction and adduction
  • elbow flexion and extension
  • shoulder extension and flexion
  • back lateral flexion
  • hip flexion and extension
  • knee flexion
  • Able to work in a wide range of weather conditions
  • Able to perform non-violent crisis intervention procedures
  • Able to work in a wide range of weather conditions
  • Vision which allows accurate observation from a distance

While the ideal candidate will possess all these abilities, duties assigned can be modified to accommodate some physical restrictions.

Campus Supervisors all work 3.5 hours per day - split shifts. Plum Canyon daily schedule: 7:45 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.;9:40 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.;11:10 a.m. to 1:35 p.m. The Campus Supervisor, under the supervision of the site administrator, assists in the supervision of students in the cafeteria and on the school grounds during lunch period(s), before, and after school. Training and Experience: Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade. One year paid or volunteer experience working with children in an educational or child care setting is highly desirable.
