Director, Security Operations

The Director of Security Operations is responsible for the planning, organizing, and coordination of security operations at CityWalk and Universal Studios Hollywood Theme Park (USH). The position will be responsible for overseeing the Security Management team, and the overall security operations including the security vendor program. The position requires you to maintain a liaison with multiple groups both internal and external including HR, legal and local law enforcement. The position will be responsible for developing operational and audit procedures and defining objectives for security operations at USH. The individual will report to the Sr. Director of Security-USH and will be responsible for the safety and security of USH guests, team members and assets.

Responsibilities include:

* Oversee the security operation which includes vendor security oversight, deployment, incident review, K9 patrol, metal detection and all security related processes.

* Coordinate with the contract security vendor to ensure continuity of security functions and compliance with USH policy and procedures.

* A progressive thinker and positive leader who can evaluate and institute process improvement with the ability to build and lead a team to develop and implement programs that protect our employees, guests and assets.

* Develop audit procedures for security operations and produce regular reports to ensure compliance with all security policies. Develop and review staff reports related to the assigned activities and present reports to the Sr. Director of Security.

* Ensure that his/her staff has the expertise, continued training, and experience in areas that will ultimately benefit the company, guests and fellow employees.

* Plan, organize and direct crime prevention operations for USH providing prompt resolution of security issues.

* Investigate and respond to inquiries regarding guest and employee security concerns.

* Provide a high degree of interface with a variety of departments particularly Operations, Human Resources, Legal, and Finance.

* Maintain a positive working environment with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and other law enforcement agencies and assist in related activities as directed by the Sr. Director of Security.

* Oversee the Security Department's budget, prepare budgetary reports and present them to the Sr. Director of Security.

* Demonstrate the ability to maintain one's composure in a high pressure environment while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.


* A minimum of fifteen (15) years' experience in a number of increasingly responsible positions in Security Management and/or law enforcement.

* Detail oriented with strong organization and communication skills

* Flexible schedule to meet the needs of a 24/7, 365 day a year operation

* Must be able to maintain confidentiality

* Willing to work varied shifts including nights and weekends as dictated by the business needs

Desired Characteristics

* Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to clearly and concisely disseminate information to all levels of USH/NBCU Management in both written and verbal forms

* Demonstrate a working knowledge of a variety of security technology systems

* Proficient with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)

* Experience making recommendations to leadership supported by analysis reports including metrics and financial information

* Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management

* Experience managing a budget and applying financial analysis (e.g. building and presenting business case)

* Ability to multi-task, overseeing multiple projects and events at the same time

* Experience and training in threat assessment, investigations, risk management and security operations

* Completion of ASIS certification such as Certified Protection Professional or similar professional physical security training

* Possess a BSIS guard card
