Job Summary

The Retail Loan Assistant is responsible for supporting loan officers in all areas of mortgage and consumer lending.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Assist the branch with the day to day operations as needed, such as answering phones, attending to customer service needs and taking messages for loan staff as needed.

* Follow up on items such as: income/financial statements, CIP forms, title insurance and homeowners insurance or any documents needed for the loan approval/processing process.

* Greet all customers in a professional manner.

* Work with loan officers to maintain loan files through all phases of the lending process.

* Input loan applications in lending software.

* Work with loan processors and customers on items needed for loan files.

* Perform clerical duties as required by Branch Lending Manager.

* Follow all rules and guidelines of the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act) and be registered with the NMLS. Annual renewal of registration is required.

* To perform all job duties and maintain compliance with all banking acts, laws and regulations applicable to your job function.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Close consumer loans with customers as needed.

* Process loan payoffs and payments as appropriate.

Qualifications Required

(Required education may be satisfied by experience and/or working knowledge)

High school diploma or equivalent, proficiency in office programs such as Word, Excel and Microsoft Office. Completion and proficiency of each area of the Loan Assistant Road Map is required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Sitting for extended periods of time, requires close visual acuity and the ability to work and operate computer applications and equipment including copy machine, telephone, scanner or other basic business equipment. Some travel is required for facilitating sales calls and meeting with customers. The job is within the normal office environment range.

Qualifications Preferred

An Associate's degree and two years' experience as Loan Secretary.

* Knowledge of the principles and methods for promoting and selling bank products or services.

* Knowledge of bank provided resources to complete job tasks.
