Job Description Summary

Electrical/Process Control Technician is responsible for programming and troubleshooting the facility's PLC networks, consisting of Modicon, Allen Bradley and other PLCs. An ET/PCT is responsible for designing and programming HMI's consisting of Allen Bradley and Proficy iFix, working with the project engineering group to install new systems throughout the plant and maintaining and troubleshooting electrical equipment. An ET/PCT must possess a high level of understanding for electrical drawings, be familiar with the NEC and NFPA70E, have the ability to run electrical conduits and operate all tools required for electrical troubleshooting. An ET/PCT must possess a high level of positive communication skills, effective leadership skills, strong desire to learn and good teamwork attributes.

Job Description

* Install and modify new and existing mechanical electrical equipment according to installation instructions.

* Perform equipment start-ups, repairs and overhauls.

* Study blueprints, schematics, manuals, or other specifications to determine installation procedures.

* Test faulty equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test equipment or software, and applying knowledge of the functional operation of electronic units and systems.

* Operate equipment to demonstrate proper use or to analyze malfunctions.

* Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks, such as checking, cleaning, or repairing equipment, to detect and prevent problems.

* Repair or adjust equipment, machines, or defective components, replacing worn parts, such as gaskets or seals in electrical equipment.

* Performs preventative maintenance and modifications to the mechanical electrical systems as needed.

* Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, project plans and technical documents.

* Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

* Ability to diagnose problems and recommend cost-effective solutions.

* Other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

* 3-5 years of PLC programming and project management experience.

* An Associate Degree in an electronic/engineering field or an Idaho Electrical Journeyman license.

* A 4th year Electrical Apprentice may be considered.

* Knowledge of electrical theory and its application.

* Knowledge of safety procedures applicable to working with and on live circuits.

* Knowledge of electrical construction and maintenance practices and procedures.

* Two years of journeyman level electrical experience.

* Four years of food processing maintenance experience.

* Equipment Maintenance – Performing maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

* Trouble Shooting – Determine causes of operating errors and decide course of action to remedy problem.

* Quality Management - Looks for ways to improve and promote quality. Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.

* Safety and Security - Observe safety and security procedures. Report potentially unsafe conditions; Use equipment and materials properly.
