Title Research Specialist, Principal (Part Time) Department Electrical and Computer Engr (2303) Location Main Campus Position Summary
The Error Correction Laboratory (ECL) at the University of Arizona (UA) is seeking a Research Specialist to work on research topics related to quantum error correction (QEC), quantum information theory, information processing using entanglement. The candidates will work on designing advanced error correction algorithms, their theoretical analysis and verification, and in particular on designing low-complexity high-performance decoders for those codes that can be realized using noisy devices. The research includes probabilistic graphical models and iterative decoding algorithms with applications to decoding of codes on graphs.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership in the area of quantum information processing, quantum information theory, and quantum error correction
- Develop a software platform to study advanced quantum error correction codes and decoding algorithms
- Write both independent and collaborative manuscripts
Publish his/her work in the peer-reviewed scientific literature
- Assist in writing research grants
- Present their work at national and international meetings and at regular group meetings
Co-advise graduate and undergraduate students.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Solid fundamental knowledge in classical information theory, digital communications, signal processing. Background in quantum physics, and mastery of quantum information processing, quantum information theory, quantum communications, and quantum secrecy.
High proficiency in Linux, Windows operating systems, C or C+
• programming languages, Matlab and Latex software.
