University of Arizona Tucson, AZ
Teachers in Industry is the innovative business-education partnership that places experienced classroom teachers in Arizona businesses during the summer while they receive professional development credit or work on their Master's degree. Teachers take their real-world industry experience back into the classroom to more effectively prepare students to enter the future workforce. The Teachers in Industry program is a collaboration between the College of Education at the University of Arizona and Tucson Values Teachers. Teachers in Industry is housed in the department of Teaching, Learning and Sociocultural Studies in the College of Education. Coursework is an important part of the program where teachers make meaning of their summer workshop experience and make concrete plans to integrate what they learn back into their classrooms. The University of Arizona has been listed by Forbes as one of America's Best Employers in the United States and WorldatWork and the Arizona Department of Health Services have recognized us for our innovative work-life programs.
