The Applications Specialist functions as the primary support contact for the Epic application in NEMG practices. They work under the direction of the Manager of Practice Optimization to focus on optimization activities in the practices. Primary responsibilities include analyzing work flows and understanding policies, procedures, and constraints of the clinical or business operations. In depth and precise investigation and documentation of operational specifications and application functionality is required. They function as the primary contact to troubleshoot problems and questions from end users during go-live and post go-live periods. They coordinate all Epic issues that arise at the assigned practices. A key activity will be to analyze the current workflows and issues and implement and monitor possible changes based on promoting best practice recommendations in accordance with the NEMG policies and procedures. Attention to detail is a critical skill for this position, as well as being highly organized with exceptional customer service skills. Successful candidates enjoy helping other users learn and adopt usage of the application.

Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Epic certification preferred
Three or more years in a Healthcare and/or technology setting strongly preferred as well as knowledge of clinical workflow, documentation and practice standards. 2 years of experience as a Systems Analyst is preferred. Ability to analyze workflow to recommend and develop application solutions. Supports the adoption, development, enhancement, and implementation of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Experienced in supporting various clinical end users (Physicians, Nursing, and Medical Assistants), Experience working with EMRs and other clinical information systems.
Epic Certification Preferred.
Ability to work in direct customer service situations and adapt to various situations and urgencies. Experience in troubleshooting problems and developing resolutions. Ability to research and interpret data ; to include reporting, preparing and presenting data. Healthcare or Epic experience preferred. Exemplary customer service skills. Experience in EpicCare Ambulatory or Inpatient is desirable. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Must have exceptional speaking, listening and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize actions required to quickly resolve reported problems. Must be able to work independently or in a team and contribute to a positive work environment. Must be able to work in stressful situations and remain focused and calm while maintaining composure under stress. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule and travel to each of the NEMG practice locations. Ability to discern between hardware, application, and triage issues accordingly.
MMR is required. Varivax (chicken pox vaccine) or evidence of prior chicken pox is required. Hepatitis B (or signed declination) is required for those with potential exposure to blood/body fluids. Tdap and influenza vaccination are strongly encouraged. Travel to hospitals, practice sites and other customers as required. Must be able to spend a considerable amount of time standing/walking. Must be able to work in stressful situations.
