Rate of Pay: $24.21/hr + DOE
Provides clean, sterile, functional and relevant surgical instruments and equipment to operating rooms and ancillary service areas on time and on budget.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following:
Consistently dons Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and observes safety standards of the sterile processing department and facility.
Operates and routinely tests sonic washers, wall washers, Automatic Endoscope Reprocessor (AER) and sterilizers per manufacturer’s instructions.
Decontaminates surgical instruments and equipment through manufacturer’s instructions.
Performs tray prepping as recommended by The Consortium of Sterile Sciences to eliminate errors in assembly.
Inspects, tests and assembles instrument sets per surgical count sheets.
Isolates surgical count sheets with Alma Sac; surgical counts sheet holders and ensure that quality assurance cards are used to distinguish sterile from non-sterile instrument sets at all times.
Performs quality checks on sterilization documents and files per department policy.
Participates in education programs, in-services, team building exercises, sterile forensic exercises and other duties.
Electronically accesses surgery schedules, prints and accurately picks case carts as required to avoid delays in the operating room.
Matches policy to practice in the execution of routine instrument processing duties as required and instructed.
Adheres to local and national standards of compliance in the execution of duties.
