The primary purpose of this position is to support of the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Flight's Patient Administration (PA) section. Performs a variety of receptionist, clerical, record keeping and miscellaneous duties in support and care of services provided by flight.

* Performs a variety of clerical duties associated with patient care and treatment in the PA section of DI IA W section procedures.

* Performs a variety of record keeping duties associated with patient care and treatment in DI, using knowledge of various facility services, and medical terminology and procedures common to each service.

* Performs a full range of miscellaneous support duties associated with patient care and treatment in DI using knowledge of the functions and locations of various flights, sections and medical facility services.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: One year of general experience is required for GS-0679-04 level positions which includes knowledge of the internal organization of obstetric and outpatient records and the relationship of their parts, in order to search records and extract medical information/data relevant to the planning of patient treatment, and to review records for completeness, accuracy and consistency with the facility, regulatory, and accrediting agency requirements; knowledge of responsibilities concerning release of medical information; knowledge of clinic procedures for assembling patient charts, reviewing physician's orders, filing x-ray and test reports, charting patient data and scheduling patients appointments.


EDUCATION: Two years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.


COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience as described above may be used to qualify for this position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

* Knowledge of commonly used medical terminology, forms, supplies, techniques and instruments

* Ability to understand and recognize materials commonly used in the unit, such as exam orders, results, records of treatment

* Knowledge of the organization, ability to screen and refer calls, answer questions and schedule patients

* Ability to operate data processing equipment/digital viewing equipment. A fully qualified typist is not required. Position requires data transcribing skill at the GS-03 level

* Skill in general administrative procedures

* Skill in oral and written presentation

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.


IF USING EDUCATION TO QUALIFY: You MUST provide transcripts to support your educational claims. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
