We are currently seeking a full-time Chief of Psychiatry to join our team at Torrance State Hospital located in Torrance, Pennsylvania.

Available Shift

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm


The Chief of Psychiatry oversees the administrative and clinical psychiatric services at Torrance State Hospital. The Chief has hospital-wide responsibility for the admissions process, planning, management, coordination, evaluation, and integration of psychiatric services to further comprehensive patient treatment. The Chief develops policies and procedures regulating the conduct of all psychiatric services, continuously evaluates their effectiveness, and promotes staff improvement. Supervision is exercised over subordinate psychiatrists and psychiatric certified registered nurse practitioners (CRNPs) in the implementation of hospital-wide psychiatric services. Serves as a collaborating psychiatrist for psychiatric CRNPs. Duties also include consultation of higher level review cases at designated facilities throughout the serving counties. The incumbent functions with a high degree of independence in the day-to-day decision making. The Chief is an essential part of the leadership team. Work is performed under the general direction of the Chief Medical Officer and is reviewed to determine quality of services and achievement of established objectives through conferences and reports.

  • MD or DO. Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania medical license and DEA
  • BC with at least 2 years of experience, including 1 year in a supervisory capacity
  • Current BLS certificate
  • All qualified applicants are required to successfully complete a security clearance process as required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
