SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Header Operator individual sets up and operates header machines for the manufacture of all types of bolt parts in accordance with established shop practices. Performs work operations under supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodation for disabilities may be made for one or more of the following:

* Sets up and operates automatic machines to produce machined parts according to blueprints, specifications and/or special instructions.

* Starts and operates machine operation to detect out-of-tolerance machining and adjust controls or control media as required.

* Sets up and operates machine on trial run to check accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.

* Productivity needs to be maintained at performance standards associated with daily, weekly and monthly KPI’s.

* Checks parts for conformance to specifications using micrometers, calipers and gauges and perform SPC

* Recognizes and remedies minor machine malfunctioning or cutting action of tools. Major discrepancies are reported to supervisor.

* Complete rebuilding of precision machine tools and equipment.

* Provide necessary information to Manufacturing team, Engineering Team or others to document procedures and drawings.

* Identifies, disassembles and determines corrective action required to repair work or broken parts.

* Checks tooling and reworks as needed to keep machine running.

* Lays out parts for successive and continuous machining operations.

* Works directly with all levels in the organization including, management/supervision on continuous improvement efforts regarding machines, components and manufacturing systems.

* Understands specifications from general description and draws rough sketch of part of product to be fabricated.

* Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards, by following blueprints or work instructions.

* Reads blueprint or job order for product specification such as dimensions, tolerance, number or parts to be checked.

* Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows all safety regulations.

* Adheres to all company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies, practices, and procedures.

* All employees are responsible for complying with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.

* All employees are responsible for attending all training provided and for adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans, conforming to reporting requirements, and safe operating procedures at all times.

* All employees are required to bring any known or suspected nonconformance for all company procedures or legal requirements to management’s attention immediately.

* Continually seek opportunities to improve our HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting our results.

* Works under recommended waste elimination initiatives specifically related to the manufacturing production function such as recycling opportunities to elimination or minimize production waste.

* Performs a variety of other related duties as assigned.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

May assist in the technical coaching of trainees &/or operators.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education and/or Experience

* High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

* Working experience of manufacturing environment procedures

* A minimum of 2 years related industrial machine shop experience in operation equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Must be able to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the organization

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Knowledge of basic shop math. Ability to calculate in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units and weight measurement, volume, and distance

Reasoning Ability

Ability to comprehend detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer skills and departmental applications: SPC & Shop Floor System.
