High School English Teacher QUALIFICATIONS: Valid California credential (or eligibility to obtain no later than August 1st) with an authorization to teach English in grades 9-12 is required. Previous high school English teaching experience preferred. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: 1.Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students. 2.Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. 3.Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like, to communicate these objectives to students. 4.Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required. 5.Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress. 6.Identify pupil needs and work with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude and learning problems.

The famous desert resort cities of Palm Springs and Palm Desert lie in the Coachella Valley. The Coachella Valley is the second largest sub-region in the Inland Empire, after the Greater San Bernardino Area which may be due to the number of seasonal residents in the winter months which at peak times may surpass 100,000 with another 3.5 million annual conventioneers and tourists.
