Job Description

Prepare, provide guidance, or assist in preparing and developing the engineering deliverables for relay, protection and control projects. Ensure proper relay system operation as well as compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) standards applicable to protection and control (PRC), cyber security (CIP, and facilities (FAC).

Job Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution required with an emphasis in power system analysis or system protection.

Essential Functions

* Assists with design and engineer protection and control systems.

* Prepares, reviews and verifies protection schematics and relay elementary diagrams.

* Prepares, reviews and verifies relay test plans for new protection systems.

* Responsible for compliance with all applicable Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) NERC Reliability Standards and assigned PRC NERC Reliability Standards and serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for those applicable standards.

* Maintains inventory for relay protection components for facility ratings purposes and carrier frequencies.

* Participates in the investigation of breaker/interrupting device operational incidents (PRC-004) that may lead to reportable events, performs sequence of event review, analysis of recorders and logs to perform root cause analysis to develop recommendations and corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

* Writes functional guidelines and/or practices for NERC CIP and PRC compliance.

* Researches and understands equipment functionality and applicability NERC CIP compliance standards.

* Works independently and is self-directed

Working Conditions

Normal office conditions with travel and work outside of normal business hours for field work, pre-bid meetings, project meetings, and project implementation, contractor oversight, and training is required. While working in certain areas of the plant, there may be extreme temperatures and conditions. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and respiratory equipment may be required. Must possess a valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report.
