The Florida Agency for State Technology (AST) seeks to hire talented and dedicated individuals who share our commitment to excellence. The incumbent in this position supports the Interdepartmental Services environment within the Agency for State Technology’s State Data Center (SDC). The SDC maintains a 24 hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, data center operation providing utility computing services to state agencies and other governmental entities.

Minimum Qualifications:

A two-year degree from an accredited college or university in an IT related area of study.

Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education

Background Screening Requirement:

A criminal background investigation, including fingerprinting and statewide and national criminal history records checks, is a condition of employment in this position.


Salary will be based on the State of Florida minimum pay grade for the position. Consideration may also be given to an applicant’s relevant knowledge, skills, abilities and available agency funds.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This position assists the State Data Center’s (SDC) Interdepartmental Services Section team in performing Mobile Device Management and system and application performance monitoring and troubleshooting. Work overtime, nights and weekends as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities related to this position include but are not limited to the following:

Assist with configuration of system and application monitoring utilizing Extrahop and other services.

Assist with troubleshooting system performance issues.

Assist with configuring dashboards and reports.

Responsible for the management of Extrahop appliances.

Gain a working knowledge of the various data networks deployed at the SDC

Responsible for the management of all mobile phone devices for the Agency for State Technology (AST). The employee serves as the Special Point of Contact (SPOC) for the agency’s wireless provider. Management of the devices including but is not limited to: ordering new or replacement devices, troubleshooting issues and responding to all required communication from the wireless provider. Initiate support tickets with device vendors. Maintain mobile device inventory and disposition of unsalvageable mobile devices. Assist with any mobile phone usage audits.


Knowledge of application performance monitoring and troubleshooting

Knowledge of network and network hardware, engineering and/or IT equipment, terminology and procedures

Knowledge of problem-solving techniques

Ability to process information logically and solve problems

Ability to monitor and resolve problems with network system and server components

Ability to receive and carry out work assignments in a timely manner following standard operating procedures

Ability to communicate technical data processing information verbally and in writing

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

Ability to approve requests, handle paperwork, and perform day-to-day administration for designated business area

Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
